I live in Arkansas and also have fibromyalgia. I was diagnosed in 2007 but I have had fibromyalgia pretty much all my life. I would like to be email friends with you as not many people understand fibro. I love to sew, make hair bows, make jewelry and just all around dabble in crafts. I have quite a few vintage patterns and at least 5 treadle sewing machines even though I use my modern sewing machine and serger for my projects. I have the sewing machine my grandmother taught me how to sew on. It has an electric light but is treadle powered. I love that machine!!
I am sorry to go on like this. I was very excited when I found your blog and wanted to get in touch with you. You had mentioned in one of your posts about having trouble with your bra. I do not need as much support as you but I choose bras with wide straps and then wrap them with padding such as fleece or cotton batting. It seems to help a little but I am still ready to come out it after a few hours.
My email is patriciakoller@hughes.net and I would love to hear from you.
Take care and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

      Hi Patricia!!!

thank you soo much for your kind words! i havent been posting much because i had a mini flare up this week and today i saw my chiropractor who informed me that my back is shot. as if i already did not know this.lol
WOW a treadled machine!!! its on my list of machines to get. i have a singer 99k that i love and a singer fashion mate as well. those two come in a built in cabinet. the other two machines ( both Brother brand) are my work horses. and i have a brother serger which i still have not used.

i have made inserts out of anti-pilling fleece and paper clips to put over the side of my bra where the wire comes out.
@ my size i cant really afford ( pain wise and support wise) to go without a wire. although i have to say maternity bras are pretty comfy and supportive to wear.

If you lived closer to me you would have a treadle machine!! I have way to many. I grew up in the house my father grew up in. It became the dumping ground for furniture the other kids didn’t need (there were 8 children). I have a lot of stuff I don’t even have a name for!
I love my serger. It make sewing curtains and pillows, etc so much faster. I don’t have to worry about finishing the seams. I also use it to sew my pajamas. I use old sheets for the fabric. They are so soft and comfy.
What are you taking for your fibro? I have been seeing a new doctor since the first of the year and he is really helping me. He prescibed a pain patch that I can cut up and put where it is really hurting. I don’t know what I would do without them. However, my fibro has affected my memory and motor skills to the point I can no longer work. I was an insurance agent and cannot remember all the legalese I would have to tell my clients so I had to quit. I also fall a lot and cannot walk on uneven ground. I have had to have surgery on both my knees because of a fall on concrete. Isn’t fibro fun!?!?! LOL!
I have 3 children and wore nursing bras with them. They are a lot more comfortable and have lots of support. You might want to look at one of them. I wish I had a better suggestion but the world has not seen the light on comfortable and fashionable clothes for people who hurt. You would think with the baby boomers coming to retirement age there would be better options. I guess they haven’t complained loud enough!
I look forward to hearing from you soon!
        Patricia
